Arabic Present and Future Tense Verb 7

Arabic Going? Arabic Beginner Lesson 17 –

Arabic Present and Future Tense Verb

We have already discussed the past tense verb and pronouns. In this lesson, we will discuss فُِعُْلٌُ مُُُضَُاُرِعٌُ which is equivalent to present and future tense. فُِعُْلٌُ مَُُاضٍُ (past tense) and فُِعُْلٌُ مُُُضَُاُرِعٌُُ (present/future tense), as well as ضَُمَُائُِرُُ (pronouns) are the foundations of the Arabic language. These should be memorized properly. This will make all future lessons much easier. We are listing below the conjugations (verb forms) of فُِعُْلٌُ مُُُضَُاُرِعٌُ (present and future tense verb) in active voice (مَعْرُوْفٌُ ).

In lesson 3, we discussed the method of converting فُِعُْلٌُ مَُُاضٍُُ

مَُعُْرُُوُْفٌُ (past tense active voice) to فُِعُْلٌُ مَُُاضٍُ مََُُْهُُوُْلٌُ (past tense passive voice). This required putting a dammah on the first letter (ف) and a kasrah on the second (ع). Thus, فَ عَلَُ changes to فُعِلَُ . Similarly, ي فَْعَلُُ

which means “he does or will do” is in active voice (مَعْرُوْفٌُ ). To convert this فُِعُْلٌُ مُُُضَُاُرِعٌُ مَُعْرُوْفٌُ to فُِعُْلٌُ مُُُضَُاُرِعٌُ مََُُْهُُوُْلٌُ , we give the first letter a dammah and the third letter a fathah. ي فَْعَلُُ becomes ي فُْعَلُُ ,

تَضْرِبُُ becomes تُضْرَبُُ , ي فَْتَحُُ becomes ي فُْتَحُُ , أَُنْصُرُُ becomes أُُنْصَرُُ , and so on.
